Operation Julie tells the incredible story of the undercover police investigation that was centred around Devizes, with policemen and women from the Wiltshire Constabulary dressing up as hippies and birdwatchers staking out cottages in rural mid-Wales.
The successful operation resulted in dozens of arrests, with many of them being held in Swindon Police station, and the discovery of 100m pounds worth of LSD smashing one of the most extraordinary drug networks the world has ever seen.
This new hit musical explores the story from both sides of the drugs divide – the police, and the hippies who settled in rural West Wales hoping to spread their ideals and to hopefully change the world.
“A funny yet thought-provoking script, terrific acid-head soundtrack and a superb ensemble cast of actor-musicians made this, quite rightly, one of the audience hits of the year!” - The Stage
After the first performance on Thu 9 May, there will now be a Q&A for the audience with Artistic Director Geinor Styles, Alston ‘Smiles’ Hughes (who was jailed for 8 years for his part in the LSD supply chain) and Biographer Andy Roberts.
