Rachmaninov’s dazzling piano concerto-in-all-but-name, the Paganini Variations, meets Prokofiev’s riotous, Soviet-censor-nose-tweaking 5th Symphony, and his iconic Romeo and Juliet (famous as the theme from the Apprentice).
