1956: The UK Albums Chart is created, the Duke of Edinburgh Award is launched, and, most significantly of all, the Swindon Arts Centre opened its doors! More than seven decades later the arts centre has established itself as one of the leading live entertainment venues in Wiltshire, welcoming thousands of customers through its doors every year. The auditorium has 200 seats, and offers a mixed programme of concerts, comedy, dance, drama, exhibitions, musical theatre, and local amateur productions.
The venue is adaptable (the building was previously a Methodist Hall after all) and also currently houses the South Swindon Parish Library. The Arts Centre Café space is also available to hire and can seat a maximum of 50 people for meetings, workshops, fairs, conferences, small parties, and other events.
