The West End’s celebration of Britain’s greatest double act MORECAMBE AND WISE
by Hamish McColl, Sean Foley and Eddie Braben.
Directed by Chris Jordan, Design by Julie Godfrey
Music Rob Cousins
Don’t miss this sensationally funny celebration of the legendary comedy duo Morecambe and Wise.
Packed with with riotous comedy and musical routines, The Play What I Wrote is brought to you by the team behind last summer’s The Hound of the Baskervilles and of course Eastbourne’s beloved Devonshire Park pantomimes.
When The Play What I Wrote opened in London’s West End it garnered, rave reviews and now will be bringing Eric and Ernie’s ‘Sunshine and Smiles’ to Eastbourne this August.
You see, Dan has written a play, set in the French Revolution called “A Tight Squeeze for the Scarlet Pimple”. Ben on the other hand, wants to continue with their own double act. Perhaps a tribute to Morecambe and Wise, would fulfil both their dreams? But first they need a guest star to appear in the play what Dan wrote? Who could they get?
Joining Eastbourne favourite Ben Roddy, Daniel Crowder and Marc Pickering will be one special star guest at each performance.
Comic favourite, Joe Pasquale returns to Eastbourne following his storming performance in The Prat Pack at the Congress Theatre earlier this year.
Famed ex-Eastbournian Michael Praed revisits to his teenage stomping ground. The Robin of Sherwood star’s career has included Dynasty and Emmerdale, and returning to Eastbourne is something of a homecoming for him.
Sit-com legend Sue Holderness, best known as Marlene from the iconic Only Fools and Horses, once again tread the boards at the beautiful Devonshire Park Theatre
Completing the line-up, is Lee Latchford Evans, from multi-million selling band STEPS who has gone onto star in the West End production of Grease and earlier this year in the national tour of & Juliet.
The guest star featuring in each performance of ‘The Play What I Wrote’ will change across the performance schedule to keep “Eric and Ern” on their toes.
Serving up an hilariously fun few hours of live theatre, music and a surprise guest star! This is the perfect show for all the family to enjoy this summer!
