Overview

The West End’s celebration of Britain’s greatest double act MORECAMBE AND WISE

by Hamish McColl and Sean Foley and, of course, Eddie Braben

Directed by Chris Jordan, Design by Julie Godfrey

The Eastbourne Theatres production team return this summer with this sensationally funny homage to legendary comedy double act Morecambe and Wise.

Packed with anarchic, zany comedy and music, The Play What I Wrote is brought to you from the team behind last summer’s The Hound of the Baskervilles and previous productions, The Invisible Man, One Man Two Guv’nors and of course Eastbourne’s beloved Devonshire Park pantomimes.

When The Play What I Wrote opened in London’s West End, every single review was a rave, and it won every major theatre award. Now this brand-new production, will be bringing sunshine to Eastbourne this August.

You see, ‘Jim’ has written a play, set in the French Revolution called ‘A Tight Squeeze for the Scarlet Pimple’. ‘Ben’, on the other hand, wants to continue with their own double act. He believes that if they perform a tribute to Morecambe and Wise, Jim’s confidence in their partnership will be restored, and the double act will go on. But first they need a guest star to appear in the play what ‘Jim’ wrote.

Serving up an hilariously fun couple of hours of live theatre, music and a surprise guest star!!, this is the perfect show for all the family to enjoy this summer!
