Matthew Bourne's The Car Man

FASTEN YOUR SEAT BELTS… Matthew Bourne’s award-winning The Car Man is back! Loosely based on Bizet’s ever-popular opera, The Car Man has one of the most thrilling and instantly recognisable scores in New Adventures’ repertoire.  The familiar 19th Century Spanish cigarette factory becomes a greasy 1950’s garage-diner in the American Mid-West where the dreams and passions of a small-town are shattered by the arrival of a handsome and enigmatic stranger. Fuelled by heat and desire, the inhabitants are driven into an unstoppable spiral of greed, lust, betrayal and revenge. Matthew Bourne’s vivid storytelling combines with one of the most passionately dramatic scores ever written, with music by Terry Davies featuring Rodion Shchedrin’s Carmen Suite (after Bizet’s Carmen), to create a dance thriller like no other.  The Car Man will ignite your senses and leave you breathless. ***** ‘BUCKLE UP FOR THE RIDE OF YOUR LIFE. GRIPPING, GASP-MAKING, EDGE OF YOUR SEAT STUFF’ Daily Mail ***** ‘A SHATTERINGLY GOOD PIECE OF STORYTELLING. Echo & The Bunnymen

Echo & The Bunnymen have announced a six-date UK tour for November 2026 in support of their new album, Apples For Isaac The newly announced dates follow the release of Echo & The Bunnymen’s first album of new music in twelve years. It is the band’s 13th album and follows 2014’s Meteorites and the 2018 compilation The Stars, the Oceans & the Moon. An untouchable voice singing lyrics that could well be poetry from the stars, set against a musical backdrop capable of levitating listeners without warning — Apples for Isaac is a monumental return from Echo & The Bunnymen. After years spent performing their immense catalogue of classics to audiences around the world, the Bunnymen have recorded an album that is bold and confident and at times even offers the listener a loving embrace. Across Apples for Isaac’s eleven songs, Ian McCulloch, Will Sergeant and the band have created an utterly addictive collection that perfectly captures the very essence of what makes the Bunnymen so great. Formed in Liverpool in 1978, Echo & The Bunnymen cast an astonishing brightness into the long shadows of punk rock. From the very beginning, they brought matchless musicality, along with Ian McCulloch’s unmistakable, inimitable British wit and soul, to a body of songs that generations since have learned and sung. Over the years, their poignant and stirring records have been labelled everything from new wave and post-punk to psychedelia and goth. In truth, they are simply the glorious work of one of the greatest rock ’n’ roll bands ever to emerge from Liverpool. Echo & The Bunnymen are Ian McCulloch, Will Sergeant, Ste Brannan, Simon Finley, Mike Smith and Peter Riley.
