Following a sold-out residency at Los Angeles’ Sun Rose and an electrifying performance at Chaka Khan's Meltdown Festival in London, she showcases her soul-jazz prowess in tracks like "Reborn" and "Let Not (Your Heart Be Troubled)," which have gained support from BBC Radio and Jazz FM.
Produced by Chris Seefried, Slang Spirituals captures the singer’s unique sound, blending emotive, deeply personal lyrics with cinematic vocals. Raised in a Christian household in New Mexico, Lady Blackbird faced struggles with her identity as a queer woman, which she channels into the album’s themes of empowerment and self-discovery. From gospel to folk, the record spans a range of genres, reflecting her journey of transformation.
This fall, she will join Moby on his UK & Europe tour before embarking on her own headline shows.
