Following his solo concert appearance last year at G Live, eminent British pianist Mark Bebbington returns to the stage this season to perform Delius’ Piano Concerto, blending English Romanticism with pastoral gentleness accompanied by the Buenos Aires Symphony Orchestra of Colón Opera.
Bizet’s colourful and light first suite from his ballet Carmen comprises six excerpts including family-favourite Les Toreadors. The concert also includes a suite taken from one of the most popular ballets of all time, Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake. The suite was suggested by Tchaikovsky to his publisher writing “The other day I remembered my "Swan Lake" and wanted very much to preserve this music, which contains a few decent things, from oblivion.”
