Glasgow-born Hamish Stuart shot to fame in the 1970's as the falsetto voice and guitarist of the Average White Band, his distinctive song writing and vocal and guitar style helping pave the way to their extraordinary worldwide success. When the AWB split in 1982, Stuart went on to write, record and tour with an array of soul stars including Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, George Benson and Chaka Khan for whom he wrote the No.1 chart hit Whatcha Gonna Do For Me?
He went on to record with David Sanborn, releasing a live album on which Hamish sang Al Green’s ‘Love and Happiness’ now a Hamish Stuart Band standard and in the late 80’s joined Paul McCartney’s band appearing on several albums and world tours over six years. The Hamish Stuart Band however, reflects his own personality, immensely diverse interests and influences, while showcasing his inimitable vocal style.
On the night, Hamish will be bringing his 9-piece band to the club, featuring a 4-piece brass section, so expect AWB hits and loads of great funk and soul classics, by a band that generates a truly ferocious groove and never fails to blow off the roof!
