A Far Cry From Home - Wela Mbusi

THESE PERFORMANCES HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED FROM MARCH 2024 TO OCTOBER 2024

Malcolm, a driven young businessman, embarks on a high-stakes journey to South Africa for a land investment initiative. However, he quickly discovers a nation teetering on the edge of chaos, resembling a ticking time bomb ready to explode. With Mzwa, a native South African and consultant, Malcolm unravels a dark family history, exposing his father's role as a missionary priest facing removal from a threatened village.

As a looming civil war casts its shadow, Malcolm begins to question the sinister underbelly of the free-market ethos, realising its role in subjugating vulnerable regions through coercive forces. Guided by Mzwa, he navigates a treacherous web of truths, leading to fractures in their once-unbreakable friendship. The suspense builds as Malcolm confronts a convergence of conflicting truths, forcing him to make a pulse-pounding decision that could alter the course of his life.

In this gripping thriller, the play explores themes of self-discovery, ethical dilemmas, and the haunting impact of history on the present. The audience is thrust into a world of suspense, where Malcolm's journey becomes a nail-biting exploration of personal choices amid a backdrop of hidden truths and impending danger.
